Label and Music Rights Administrator
Upright Music is looking for a structured, organized, and dedicated Label and Music Rights Administrator to join our team at our wonderful office in Copenhagen. Upright Music is a leading independent music company specializing in providing music for all kinds of audiovisual productions and films produced within the Nordics, the Baltics, and Poland. We are based in the heart of Copenhagen and have an office in Warsaw, Poland as well.
As our Label and Music Rights Administrator, you’ll work closely with our Music Production and the Copyright teams with administrative tasks. Our Music Production team consists of eight experienced team members and is responsible for our music labels StereoRoyal, A New Story, ACE Edition and Silverdrum. We produce, release, and distribute outstanding music for sync in collaboration with established and upcoming composers. Our skilled Copyright team is responsible for copyright data management and music rights registrations. The team consists of three full-time colleagues and three student assistants who manage our internal music database system, register publishing agreements, ensure data quality and collaborate daily with worldwide music publishers.
You will have a key role in assisting both teams with various administrative tasks and you will be responsible for structuring and handling our systems and metadata.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a super-structured and service-minded Administrator who loves to systemize, solve, and manage administrative tasks. You have strong problem-solving and organizational skills, an eye for detail, and are a team player. As our Label and Music Rights Administrator, you will support our Music Production team and the Copyright team and manage their daily queries. Ultimately, you should be able to ensure their administrative activities run smoothly daily and long term.
The job requires an interest in, and the ability to work thoroughly with detailed administrative tasks. We expect that you excel in communication- in English and have a good understanding of Danish. You master deadlines and are good at taking the lead on different tasks and projects. Furthermore, you are comfortable in reaching out to colleagues and external partners, to get the information you need to get a task done – you have a proactive mindset and are eager to optimize our standard processes. You must have solid experience working in Excel or Google Sheets, be comfortable learning new systems, and, preferably, knowledge of music rights.
Primary tasks
The main tasks are to assist in preparing metadata for new albums for release and distribution, keeping internal files and archives in order, and uploading and registering data with various performing rights societies and sub-publishers. The tasks will include:
Data Management of Music Production
Gathering, checking, and structuring album material and files
Assisting the team in checking and organizing metadata
Assisting with the registration and distribution of albums with performing rights societies and various sub-publishers
Archiving files and contracts
Various ad hoc tasks (e.g., meeting room preparations and similar)
Copyright Administration
Registration of music repertoire works with performing rights societies
Ingestion and data quality control of album metadata into internal music system
Managing and solving copyright counterclaims
Who you are
You have a problem-solving and detail-oriented mindset and are motivated by working with a high level of structure.
You like administrative work and get energized by optimizing internal processes.
You like challenges and work well under pressure, as the tasks are numerous, and deadlines can be tight.
You have previous experience in a similar administrative role and a background as a librarian, database manager, business administrator, or similar.
You thrive in an international environment and want to contribute to the development of our labels and Upright Music’s strong position in the market.
You are passionate about what you do, have a high sense of loyalty, and take pride in contributing with administrative skills to the conception of great musical content.
You have practical experience with office management software like MS Office.
What you bring
A background in information management systems (e.g. librarian), business administration, or similar
Excellent communication skills both in speech and writing
Fluent in English and good understanding of Danish
A flair for working with technical systems and digital databases
Responsible, team player, self-reliant, detail-oriented, and structured
Experienced in Excel, Word, and Outlook
Knowledge of music rights
